According to the official synopsis, the new Mormon Wives series will follow “the scandalous world of a group of Mormon mom influencers [that] implodes when they get caught in the middle of a swinging sex scandal.”
The saga began in 2022 when Taylor Frankie Paul, who also stars in the show, announced her divorce from her ex-husband, Tate Paul, and discussed what she called their “soft swinging” lifestyle with some of their friends, which ended up implicating some of her fellow “MomTok” influencers.
At the time, Taylor, now 30, said that the pair agreed that they wouldn’t “go all the way” with other people but that she “did step out of that agreement.”
Taylor — who currently has 4 million-plus followers on TikTok — first announced her divorce from Tate in May 2022.
That July, she introduced new boyfriend Dakota Mortensen as the guy she “cheated with.”
“I want people to have a better understanding of who I am,” Taylor, who recently welcomed her third child, whom she shares with her boyfriend, previously said in a statement about the series. “I wanted to be vulnerable and show people that when you hit rock bottom, there is hope.”
Along with the scandal, Taylor was arrested in February 2023 on suspicion of misdemeanor charges of assault, criminal mischief and commission of domestic violence in the presence of a child after a fight with Dakota.
She pleaded guilty in August 2023 to aggravated assault, while the remaining charges were dropped, according to local TV station KTVX.
All eight episodes of The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives is set to premiere on Hulu on Friday, Sept. 6.
